The old swimming hole 1953 ~ 1958The state came through in 1959, widening the highway, dumping the barrow into the far corner making access, except by ladder, impractical. The jury rigged wooden ladder in the picture testifies to the continued use of the quarry at the present time.
BUILDING A DECK ON THE ROCKS AT WOOLERY QUARRY
~ 1988~Construction begins on deck by attaching beams over rocks by drilling and setting posts then setting joists from wall out to south. Some decking set to stabilize.
View of completed deck with stairway & handrails going down into the water. Last step is onto a submerged rock, allowing access there.

A temporary set-back, when a boulder fell from the cliff above after a few years time. Frost action and sustained rain caused this rock-fall. Large timbers are being used to 'pry' boulder on into the water beneath the deck before repairs can be made.
